DHPP vaccinates against Distemper, Hepatitis, Parafluenza, and Parvo.  Given at 6
to 8 weeks old, then again at 10 to 12 weeks old or within 4 weeks after the first shot
was given, and then again at 14 to 16 weeks or within 4 weeks from the time the second
shot was given. After that they get it at 1 yr old, 2 yrs old, and then once every 3 yrs.
Bordetella is given at 10 to 12 weeks and then again every 6 months.  If it's the
injection vaccination one will be given at 10 to 12 weeks and then again at 14 to 16
weeks or one month after the first injection.
     Distemper is a highly contagious virus that attacks the nervous system
and is spread through bodily fluids.  It can take 1 to 3 weeks for signs of
the virus to appear.  It can cause tonic chronic seizers (or ticks) and can
be fatal.  There is no cure once your dog contracts distemper but it can be
avoided by giving your dog the DHPP vaccination.
     Hepatitis is a contagious virus that attacks the liver, kidneys, and eyes
and is spread through urine and feces. It can cause blindness in dogs and
most animals that survive can have chronic illnesses such as fever,
lethargy, anorexia, abdominal pain and bloody diarrhea.  There is no cure
so once contracted, a veterinarian can only treat the symptoms that the
dogs has.  Contracting this virus can be avoided by giving your dog the
DHPP vaccination.
      Parvo is a contagious virus that attacks the lining of the intestine and
is spread through bodily fluids.  Parvo can live on the ground for up to two
years and is contagious to older dogs.  In most cases when older dogs
get parvo they don’t sick but they can pass it on to younger dogs in their
stool.  When dogs die of Parvo it’s normally due to dehydration.  
     Bordetella, also known as Kennel Cough, is a contagious respiratory
infection that is air born and causes coughing.  It is normally not fatal but can
be a pain to get rid of.  If you plan on boarding or taking your dog to the
groomers they will normally want your dog to have the vaccination.  You
veterinarian can inform you if your dog is at risk for Bordetella.  The
vaccination can come in the form of nasal spray or injection.
     Parafluenza is a virus that causes an upper respiratory infection and
is usually spread through contact with nasal secretions from infected dogs.
